Located in Picardy, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Laon is one of the most important example of the Gothic architecture of the 12th and 13th centuries. The site of the cathedral had been the home of several important churches that had all been destroyed during various disputes, and in 1160 construction began on the cathedral as it is today. The building was finished around the year 1215, and despite being slightly damaged in the French Revolution and the Franco Prussian war, it was unharmed by both world wars.
